Frequently Asked Questions

Dry skin – Dandruff can develop as a result of your scalp’s skin flaking and itching due to dry skin.

Fungus – Dandruff can be brought on by an overabundance of the yeast-like fungus Malassezia on the scalp.

Seborrheic dermatitis – A type of eczema that may lead to sebaceous glands overproducing scalp sebum, leading to itchy, inflamed and oily scalp. In many cases, seborrheic dermatitis is the root of dandruff.

Not shampooing enough – Dandruff can develop as a result of an accumulation of oil and dead skin cells on the scalp due to insufficient shampooing.

Certain hair products might irritate the scalp and cause dandruff if they contain strong chemicals or smells.

The frequency of washing your hair depends on the severity of your symptoms and the underlying reason for your dandruff. As the weather is generally hot and humid in Southeast Asia, increased sweating can make dandruff worse and create an ideal environment for the growth of the yeast-like fungus Malassezia, which can contribute to dandruff. Hence, we recommend washing the hair every other day to prevent build up.

While hot water may feel more relaxing and enjoyable, it can strip the scalp of its natural oils, making dandruff worse.

It is recommended to use lukewarm water when washing your hair, as it is gentle on the scalp and helps to maintain the natural oils. After washing your hair with a gentle, anti-dandruff shampoo, rinse off with cool water to help close the hair cuticles and leave your hair looking shiny and healthy.
